    Tatty Devine Christmas Spirit Necklace

Tatty Devine's Christmas Spirit necklace (?85.00) might possibly be the most festive piece of jewellery we've ever seen. Containing robins, stars, holly, bells, mistletoe and a cracker, it's a real Christmas Cracker as well as looking like the kind of thing Santa might slip into Mrs. Claus's stocking after a sherry or two. Chock-full of Christmas cheer, we utterly love this.

Daisy Riviera Pendant - 925 Sterling Silver

There's something quite retro about this 925 sterling silver Daisy Riviera Pendant (?88.00). It looks like the type of necklace that Phoebe from?Friends would wear while playing 'Smelly Cat' in Central Perk. We'd team this with a dip-dyed shirt and some ?floral Doc Martens for a real 90s-themed look.

Bark Jewels 18kt Gold Plated Anchor Stud Earrings

Hello Sailor! These Bark Jewels 18kt Gold Plated Anchor Stud Earrings (?98.95)?are utterly adorable, and just the thing for any nautical Nancy. This would make a perfect gift for anyone in love with the sea, or, alternatively, anyone who just likes wearing stripes and shouting?AHOY!

Les Nereides Bouton de Rose Crystal Flower and Rosebud Adjustable Swirl Ring

Perhaps it's the giant crystal flower, or the fact that we just really love sparkly things, but we're incredibly fond of this Les Nereides Bouton de Rose Crystal Flower and Rosebud Adjustable Swirl Ring (?90.00). It's delightfully feminine, and manages to be satisfyingly spangly without being too blingy.

Inspired by the gigantic Dinosaur skeletons that you can see in the Natural History Museum, it would make a wonderful, unique gift for that special person in your life. This?Sterling Silver Little Teapot with Brown Sapphire Tea Drop (?109.95)?is a piece of utter loveliness - ?we particularly like the little brown sapphire tea drop attached to the spout. It's just the thing to wear to afternoon tea with a hot young suitor.

Dangly gold earrings go with practically every outfit. These?Dyrberg Kern Elidia Long Chain Drop Earrings with Sparkle Pendants in Shiny Gold (?99.95)?manage to be both simple yet dazzling. Long and lovely, they look like the kind of accessories which would be worn by a 1920s flapper.

Les Nereides Belle Saison Red Crystal Drop Earrings

  • Six of the Best: Rose Gold jewellery

Rose Gold is very on trend at the moment, and with good reason. Not only does it put people in mind of warm glows and sunkissed Summer days, but it suits practically every skin tone - from pale Celtic complexions to bronzed poolside tans. ?Some of our favourite designers are creating some amazing signature pieces in this metal this season. Here's six of our favourite picks from our collection.

I'm not sure if it's the spikes, the dash of pink or the fact that I just really love big cats, but I am totally head-over-heels for this?Mawi Neon Spiked Panther Ring in Rose Gold (?215.00).?Created in commemoration of Mawi's 10 year anniversary, it manages to combine style with the right amount of 'don't mess with me' toughness. ?The hint of a sparkle comes from the row of Swarovski crystals embedded within it, making it the blingiest and most bad ass accessory in town.

Mawi Neon Spiked Panther Head and Crystal Pendant in Rose Gold

The Mawi Neon Spiked Panther Head and Crystal Pendant in Rose Gold (?243.00) is equally stunning. There's a real Art Deco feel to this piece, giving it the look of something which would be worn by a 1930s Hollywood siren for a night on the tiles. Forget Autumn/Winter, this is a necklace which could be worn during any season - a real statement piece which makes a stylish, colourful impact.

There's something very British about this Alex Monroe Rose Gold Plated Baby Shrimp Necklace (?109.95). Unique, quirky and utterly charming, it comes from the designer's Best of British collection, and was inspired by his memories of his childhood. It's just the thing for a windswept seaside afternoon tea filled with lashings of ginger beer and thick slices of bread and butter.

I'm not sure if it's the hint of Autumn in the air, or the fact that the nights are drawing in, but I'm already planning this year's Halloween outfit (yes, I know it's a bit early). These amazing Wildfox Skeleton Earrings in Rose Gold (?49.95) will definitely be making an appearance. Not only are their grinning faces utterly ghoulish, but each of their bodyparts are also individually articulated, meaning that they wiggle and jive in rhythm with your walk.

Dogeared Triple Karma Ring Necklace in Rose GoldIf you're looking for something slightly less sinister, then this Dogeared Triple Karma Ring Necklace in Rose Gold (?56.95) is full of warmth and good vibes. The three rings symbolise three different types of karma - past, present and future. While wearing this might not help you to win the lottery, it may make you feel slightly more well inclined towards that annoying person sat next to you on the bus.

Dyrberg Kern Cone/B Crystal Tennis Bracelet in Rose Gold

This Dyrberg Kern Cone/B Crystal Tennis Bracelet in Rose Gold (?79.00) is brimming with elegance. It's slim, dainty and set with Swavovski crystals. It's just the thing to wear with a little black dress, and looks brilliant when paired with one of the chunkier bracelets from the same collection.?

Will you be wearing Rose Gold this season? What's your favourite piece? Let us know in the comments!

  • Bridal bling for blushing brides and brilliant bridesmaids

Weddings can be a lot of work if you're a bride to be. After you've chosen your dress, reassured your bridesmaids that they?will look lovely in the outfits you've chosen for them, and chased down the perfect pair of shoes, it's easy to forget about choosing the right pieces of jewellery to complement your outfits. While we can't ensure that it won't rain while you're getting your post-ceremony pictures taken, we can take some of the stress out of choosing the right pieces to add a bit of sparkle and sunshine to your big day.

Quirky and cute, this?Alex Monroe 22kt Gold Plated Baby Bee Necklace?(?119.95) would make an ideal necklace for any bride who is looking for something unique yet understated. If gold's not your thing, it also comes in silver.

If you're looking to make more of a statement with your wedding ?jewellery, then this stunning Butler and Wilson Large Crystal Flower Necklace?(?148.00)?is definitely the piece for you.??It features a large rose and leaves that are entirely encrusted in sparkling clear coloured crystals, and will ensure that you out-dazzle even the most blingy discoball.

There's definitely going to be a bride or two who require a cheeky tipple to steady their nerves before the ceremony. This?Tatty Devine Gilbert and George Gin Necklace?(?33.00)?will?ensure that you have all the (non alcoholic) dutch courage you need when you're walking down the aisle.

These art-deco inspired Crystal Fan earrings from The Earrings Boutique?(?96.00)?are just the ticket if you're going for a vintage vibe. Made with Swarovski Elements crystals, they'd look perfect teamed with a frothy white veil and a simple diamond necklace.

Small yet elegant, a pair of Cath Kidston Tiny Turquoise Studs?(?8.40)?would provide the perfect dash of?something blue to any bride's wedding day ensemble.

A pair of Gold Dipped Dogeared Jewel Box Sparkle Teardrop Earrings?(?41.97)?would add a gorgeous luxe touch to a simple white dress. We imagine that they'd look sensational teamed with short hair and a smile.

Dogtooth believe that?"friendship brings out the beauty in everyone". ?Their Gold Dipped Pearls of Friendship Necklace?(?29.95)?would make a lovely keepsake to thank your friends for participating in your special day.

A David Aubrey 18kt Gold Plated Initial Letter Necklace (?29.95) would allow your bridesmaids to wear their initials in style. The attached charms add a cute touch.

Bridesmaids need a bit of razzle-dazzle too. Simple and sparkly, a Dyrberg Kern Perly Heart Necklace in Shiny Silver (?34.98)?is brilliantly blingy without being too OTT.

Are you getting married this year? What jewellery are you planning to wear at your wedding? Whether you're a bride, a bridesmaid, or even a Mother of the Bride, let us know in the comments. Alternatively, you can tweet us at

  • Summer's Embrace - The Alex Monroe SS12 Collection

'Summer's Embrace', Alex Monroe's new jewellery collection for spring/summer 2012,? has a sleepy, sensual feel with gorgeous curves, folds and textures. Warm flesh tones and rich oranges combine with muted yellows and greens.

Essentially, of course, Alex drew his inspiration from nature, entranced by the soft unfurling of a lily, and the entwined tendrils of a Virginia creeper. But in his collection Alex has also nostalgically paid homage to a very British type of glamour, with a little touch of 'Margot'; referring to the wealthy and glamorous character from 'The Good Life', a favourite from Alex's childhood.

The collection embodies the floating glamour of the seventies, a cocktail party on a warm summer's evening, escaping outside to the garden, a stolen kiss...

Summer's Embrace is pretty and bohemian with an air of sophistication, and a wonderful addition to any Alex Monroe collector's jewellery box.

The collection will be arriving in March at

  • An Interview with Alex Monroe

    Alex Monroe

We tracked down the lovely Alex Monroe for a quick chat...

Tell us about how you became a jewellery designer. By mistake! I was working as a groundsman in Suffolk and dreamt of becoming a fashion designer (I had to keep that secret from my work-mates!). So I tried to get in to a fashion course but failed miserably. The nearest thing (and a way to escape from Suffolk) was a jewellery course, which I immediately loved and I haven't stopped since!

What’s your favourite jewellery piece that you’ve designed so far? Always the next one. I'm working on new collections right now so I'm only thinking about the new pieces. They get all my attention. But we just made a twiggy ring peppered with diamonds which I love. I love it all really, but if pressed I'd say the Vintage Bike, or the pear, I really like the pear, and the Bee of course. And those Peacock feathers... oh and what about the Watering can and the key and.... I'd better stop now.

How long does it take to design a collection? What’s the process? Argh! It takes forever and it's really hard! I say that because I'm in the middle of doing it right now and I'm at a stage where everything is hard and I'm panicking. Ask me again in September at London Fashion Week and I'll say 'Oh it was sooo easy dwarling'. But that would be lying. I start with a concept, go out on research (usually at Chelsea Physic Garden or Kew or into the countryside), then I develop my sketches, do some finished drawings, make mock-ups, work these in to finished pieces, then cross my fingers that someone else likes it too!

Who is a typical Alex Monroe customer? There's no such thing, except they're usually nice. More Marie-Claire than Dazed and Confused. But we sell to women from 16 to 90, and lots of nice blokes buying pressies too!

What do you enjoy best about what you do? Interviews. Only joking! Making jewellery at the bench no doubt. I'm a maker. That's what I do best.

    The ever popular Bee necklace!

And a few questions about you:

    What’s your favourite...

Food? Japanese. And proper British. Plum Jam on crusty white. Or a big bowl of shrimps, bread and butter, and a pot of tea sitting outside.

Place in the world? A secret place on the river in Suffolk.

What’s growing on the allotment this year? You name it.... Loads of soft fruit. Just had the last broad bean. Salad, Cucumbers, Toms. Lots and lots.

What’s on the iPod? At the moment a big pile of drawings and a sketch book. And some biscuits. Musically it's probably a bit embarrassing, I'll have a look.... Podcasts; the Archers, Desert Island Discs and the The Bike Show. Songs; A, Abdul Abulbul Amir. Z, Nothing so I'll skip to Y. Y, You ain't going nowhere from Sweetheart of the Rodeo (love it). In between; Eric Clapton, Messiaen, Don Ellis, Bowie and Belle and Sebastian. A real mix. You wouldn't want to put it on 'shuffle' in public! It's a proper Dad's ipod.

    Thanks Alex! AO x

  • Alex Monroe's New Chrysanthemum Collection

Chrysanthemum is the sumptuously glamorous new collection from Alex Monroe.

Crafting beautiful Chrysanthemum flowers with all of his trademark delicacy and detail, British designer Alex has created a sophisticated collection reminiscent of a bygone era. It's a nostalgic nod back to the 1950’s when women craved glamour and style after the austerity of the Second World War. Alex wanted to inject a little bit of this sentiment into current times!

With Grace Kelly as a source of inspiration, the collection is very lady-like, with a focus on detailed and delicate necklaces, pearl centered stud earrings and elegant bracelets. Shimmering pearls and glittering white topaz form details and centre pieces, nestling in amongst the pompom-like flowers.

Although not a native flower, the Chrysanthemum is a true British classic ? found in almost every bouquet across the land, and here transformed into chic pieces of Alex Monroe jewellery.

The collection arrives shortly, keep checking our Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates.

And now, most importantly, it's time for a sneak peek:

Chrysanthemum Necklace with Pearl Centre, ?112.95

Pearl and Chain Chrysanthemum Princess Bracelet, ?199.95

'Adornithology' is the name of the new Jacey Withers AW11 collection. It's an enchanting collection of unique handcrafted pieces heavily inspired by the beautiful white barn owl, one of England's most captivating birds. Fascinated by this creature, Jacey has created a delightful story surrounding the life of this bird, the mythology and superstition surrounding it as well as its wildlife companions, some even being its prey. Within the collection we discover adorable, inquisitive mice climbing on necklaces and bracelets. Striking owls sit on chains showing the amazing pattern of their wings.

    We love the bracelet!

    Tatty Devine

Finders keepers...come foraging with Tatty Devine. The forest is rich with acorns, blackberries and seeds, all transformed into jewellery in new matt frosted perspex. Crown yourself with ivy wreaths in translucent green and charcoal black. Spot a fox slipping through the undergrowth, or an owl disappearing through the trees. Go exploring dressed in colourful perspex patchwork in oranges and creams or dazzling peacock shades of mirror.

    Fiona Paxton

'A collection inspired by the ancients' is the tag line for Fiona Paxton's AW11 season.? Influences are the bronze age, the Kings and Queens of the Celts, Mycenaean culture, hammered metals, matt stones, arrowheads, wrapped wire, draping chains and beaten curved metal discs.? Styles are bold, strong shapes contrasted with areas of refined detailing created by Fiona Paxton in her signature style, mixing metals with leather and beading.

    Les Nereides

We have two new collections arriving in autumn from French brand Les Nereides. 'Dans la For?t' (translation: 'In the Forest') has gold plated woodland creatures featuring on necklaces and earrings. 'Sous la Glycine' ('Under the Wisteria') oozes classic Les Nereides' detailing with tiny perched birds and hand enamelled flowers featuring on stackable rings, looped necklaces and dramatic drop earrings.

  • Busy, Busy, Busy...

There are a number of reasons why the blog has been quiet this week...

Firstly, London Fashion Week - I was there placing orders for some stunning and incredibly exciting AW11 (yes, already) collections. More info on these to follow.

New Cath Kidston jewellery has just gone online. Loving the new botanical charm pieces.

Our Alex Monroe Daisy Bell collection arrived with us on Monday. So we're busy photographing the new lines and should have it all online hopefully by close of play tomorrow.

Lastly, we have a huge Dogeared jewellery order on the way to us from L.A. This will include the new SS11 collection that you can preview on our Facebook page. We should have this online by the end of the week.

So until next time, here's a preview of one of my favourite pieces from the new Alex Monroe collection. Beautiful, yes?

  • Emma Watson Wearing Alex Monroe Bee Necklace

Emma Watson, fashionista of the moment has been spotted wearing our Alex Monroe bumblebee necklace on her promotional tour for the new Harry Potter movie. She joins the burgeoning list of A-Listers who have been spotted wearing this best selling bee necklace. We love Emma's new elfin-like haircut too - doesn't she look pretty?

  • Daisy Bell - The New Alex Monroe Jewellery Collection for SS11

    Daisy Bell by Alex Monroe

Here's a sneak peak at Alex Monroe's new jewellery collection for Spring/Summer 2011.

Entitled 'Daisy Bell', the collection is inspired by the old song of the same name: "Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do, I’m half crazy all for the love of you..."

Daisy Bell Charm Bracelet by Alex Monroe

Now that I've got you all singing, more about the collection. 'Daisy Bell' takes us on a tandem bicycle ride for a picnic in the countryside...honey bees buzz, and perhaps a few leaves have started to fall, while you laze under a tree reading, or feast on some treats from the sweetest looking picnic around?

To complete the feeling, Alex has carefully selected a beautiful range of gemstones to capture the subtle shades of a hazy late-summer afternoon.

    Daisy Bell at LFW!

?Daisy Bell’ is a gorgeous collection of keep-sakes, which of course, wouldn’t be complete without a cheeky little character or two! My favourite is the little picnic basket necklace that opens to reveal a little mouse who is looking hungrily at gold cupcake topped with a little silver cherry (typical Alex Monroe detail!). There are also some great classic pieces including a delicate gold centred daisy pendant with silver petals, and of course a bicycle necklace finished with ruby and diamond set lights.

'Daisy Bell' will be available at in the spring of 2011.

    More Sweet Treats!

    Guest PostGuest Post by Msalonen

I have been searching the globe for some amazing sparkles that would be in everyone’s price range. Well, NOT everyone, but most girls at least. We all know I have a slight obsession with Bottega Veneta and Phillippe Audibert. However, these days one just can’t drop couple of K’s on a necklace. So, girl needs to downsize her spending..where does she go? Well, right here at No other place for it. The thing about jewels, you need to make it your own, work it and wear it proud. I am in love with statement pieces, I am all about shoes most days, but seeing a girl on the tube wearing fantastic jewels makes me day.

Here are my top three necklaces on As we all know, it’s almost the season for turtlenecks. YEAY! There is nothing more amazing than sleeveless turtleneck and a great statement necklace over it. Wear them proud, head up high, hair in a chignon and work it!

Jackie Brazil, Indiana Jones Chunky Mixed Bead Necklace in Purple

Jackie Brazil Indiana Jones Chunky Mixed Bead Necklace in Purple, ?64.95

OMG! Like seriously in love with this piece. Purple is like my biggest colour crush this fall. It’s lovely to wear greys and blacks once the wind hits in. However, you must have something that will make the entire outfit POP! Plus anyone can wear purple! Result!

    Am I right?

    Style Crush #2

Kenneth Jay Lane Grey Pearl Necklace

Kenneth Jay Lane Grey Pearl Necklace, ?36.95

Pearls have a bad rep and I am personally going to take charge and bring them back. KJL has been on my list of desires for ages and very happy to see that there is something little more affordable in their range as well. Just don’t team them up with a pleated skirt and beehive and you will be just fine.

The shinyish grey pearls against either black or dark fashion heaven right there. BINGO!

    Style Crush #3

Alex Monroe 22kt Gold Plated Baby Bee Necklace

Alex Monroe 22k Gold Plated Baby Bee Necklace, ?104.95

I very nearly fainted as I saw this. Far too cute for my liking. I would wear this. I may have to order one. Is there anything cuter than baby bee? No, I don’t think so. Hmmm. Maybe a piglet, but I rather hang bees off my neck than piglets. OINK!

  • 'The Peacock and the Crow' is now Online

Just a quick post to let you all know that our new Alex Monroe collection 'The Peacock and the Crow' is now online. Yay!

The Peacock and the Crow by Alex Monroe

  • A Jewellery Making Video by Alex Monroe

Well, our 'Peacock and the Crow' collection by Alex Monroe has arrived with us. It's been a while since we saw the collection at London Fashion Week back in February, so it was really exciting to open the parcel and see all the pieces again. They're just as beautiful as we remembered them and the collection will be on the site as soon as we've finished editing the photographs, which will be towards the start of next week.

Here's a video of Alex making a peacock feather from this collection - it shows you the huge amount of hard work that goes into making each piece:

And here's a little preview of some of the new pieces, what do you think?

  • The Peacock and the Crow by Alex Monroe

Crow Feather NecklaceOur newest Alex Monroe jewellery collection 'The Peacock and the Crow' will be arriving with us in the next few weeks. It's one of Alex's most anticipated collections so far and we've been incredibly excited about it since we saw the collection at London Fashion Week back in February.

The collection is based on a folk story of how the birds got their colours. Originally, the Peacock and the Crow both had plain white feathers, but moved?by a field of flowers, the Crow painstakingly painted the Peacock in a beautiful palette. When it was?Peacock's?turn, he didn't want to waste any time in showing off his new plumes, so promptly, and rather spitefully poured?a pot of black ink over the Crow.

Peacock Feather HoopsTaking inspiration from this tale, Alex has essentially created two collections in one, so you can decide whether your look is going to be bold and flamboyant, or a bit more dark and mysterious. The two distinct looks are glamorous gold plated peacock feathers adorned with gorgeous gemstones, or dark ruthenium plated crow feathers that have an almost petrol-like iridescent sheen to them.

Our favourite has to be the peacock feather hoop earrings with amethyst, apatite and emerald gems (left). They really stood out when we saw them at LFW as they're incredibly elegant and we love the way the gems drape down from the hoops. We also like the introduction of the darker ruthenium plating which adds a new dimension to Alex's work.

  • Out of Luck? Try some Lucky Jewellery.

Happy St Patrick's Day! I must admit that this has crept up on me somewhat - where is the year going to?

All this talk of Guinness, shamrocks and all things Irish got me thinking about some of the lucky jewellery we have on the site. And there's quite a lot of it. In fact, we have lucky charms, lucky amulets and good luck charms aplenty. So if you're feeling a little down on your luck, we could have something to help.

One of the symbols most associated with good luck is the four leaf clover. A rare relative of the more common three leafed clover, it's said to bring luck to the finder. It's estimated that there are approximately 10,000 three-leaf clovers for every four-leaf clover. Each leaf is said to symbolise something - luck, hope, faith and love. And they look pretty cute too. Our favourite piece of four leaf clover jewellery is this four leaf clover necklace by Alex Monroe. Each leaf has gentle detailing giving the necklace a life of its own.

Alex Monroe Four Leaf Clover Necklace

Another talisman said to bring good luck is the horseshoe. Many believe that to hang it with the ends pointing upwards is good luck as it acts as a storage container of sorts for any good luck that happens to be floating by, whereas to hang it with the ends pointing down, is bad luck as all the good luck will fall out. Some cultures say you have to wear a horseshoe "open end up", to catch all the riches and luck from heaven. Others say you should wear it with the open end down so the riches can pour out on you. Our silver lucky horseshoe necklace by Dogeared hangs tipped to the side. The reason being is they said they didn't want to spill any luck...

    Dogeared Lucky Horseshoe Necklace

Did you know that 13 can be a lucky number? In Sikhism, the number 13 is considered a special number since 13 is 'tera' in Punjabi, which also means "yours" (as in, "I am yours, O Lord"). Thirteen is also considered a lucky number in Italy.

Chili peppers are also a lesser know lucky symbol - In India, chili is used with lime to ward off evil spirits and is seen in vehicles and in homes for that purpose. It is used to check the evil eye and remove its effects in Hinduism.

This Lucky Charm bracelet by French brand N2 has plenty of lucky charms on it. They've even included a flying pig:

  • Mum's the Word

Now a little word of warning before you go and spend this month's's Mothering Sunday on the 14th March. So keep something aside to buy her something special. Jewellery always makes a great Mother's Day gift - and it lasts longer than flowers!

Here are some of my top picks for the perfect gift for your Mum:

This Cath Kidston locket with a classic rosebud print is so easy to wear, and you can put a photograph into it too to add a personal touch. The whole of our Cath Kidston range is great for mums young and old alike, and the prices start at just ?7.50.

    Cath Kidston Rose Locket Necklace

Alex Monroe is another brand that appeals all ages. His new "The Gardener" collection is perfect for any mum who likes to while away the hours in the garden. This garden tag necklace has little silver tags with "Sweetpea", "Forget me Not" and "With Love" on them. The gold tag has a tiny silver ant resting on it. Who couldn't love such a dainty, detailed necklace?

    Alex Monroe Garden Tag Necklace

The message on this Dogeared necklace says it all: "You know who you are, you know what really matters, and you are always there to help me put things into perspective! Wear your necklace as a reminder that I LOVE YOU!".? And it has a super cute little anchor on it too!

Dogeared you are my anchor necklace

These Lulu Guiness rosebud earrings are another favourite of mine - they're so pretty and easy to wear. They're from Lulu's 'Life is a Bed of Roses' collection for spring, inspired by her love of flowers and East London's famous Columbia Road flower market.

To make things easier, we've set up a special Mother's Day guide with some of our favourite gifts. Need some help choosing? Just give us a call - we're happy to help.

  • London Fashion Week February 2010

I was at London Fashion Week yesterday to place orders for our autumn/winter 2010 collections (I still can't get used to writing '2010', maybe I'll be used to it by the end of the year?). It was another typically hectic day that kicked off with my first appointment at Butler & Wilson. I love placing orders with B&W.? Everything is so sparkly and tempting - if I wasn't careful then the magpie in me would be buying everything in the shop. This season they've got some really outstanding items including jewelled goldfish cuffs, graduated crystal earrings and some ornate bridal headdresses. We'll have these items online in the next few months so keep an eye out for them. While I was there I treated myself to a rather sparkly, rather beautiful and rather expensive iPhone can see a photo of it here. I'm feeling a little guilty about buying it now...but it's so pretty and sparkly...

Inside Butler & Wilson's South Molton St shop

After my 'shopping spree' in B&W I was in a cab heading over to LFW at Somerset House. Why they continue to use this venue I do not know - it's an impressive venue, but it's terrible to walk around as a buyer, because the designers are hidden away in various nooks and crannies of the building which covers quite a large area. Trying to find them all must have added at least half an hour to my visit which isn't great when you're on a tight schedule. Bring back LFW at the Natural History Museum.? When I'd finally found where to register and woven my way through a few corridors I found the stand for one of our favourite designers Alex Monroe.

Alex's new collection is entitled "The Peacock and the Crow". This new collection comprises of detailed gold plated peacock feathers with semi precious gems? and stunning Ruthenium plated crow feathers that have an almost iridescent sheen to them (think of the colours you can see in a black magpie feather). We'll have this collection in June - I think I'll be treating myself to one of the feather necklaces when it arrives.

Alex Monroe's Peacock and the Crow Collection

Then it was on to the Tatty Devine stand where I placed an order from their autumn/winter collection "The age of the blazing trails". Tatty Devine turn ten this year, and they're taking inspiration from women who set the world alight. Unfortunately I can't share photographs of the new collection with you just yet, but I can tell you to expect pieces comprising of pearls and crystals, pocket watches and some bright colourful pieces too. This collection should be arriving in late August. Photos will be posted on our Facebook page as soon as we can share them with you.

I then went to see the hugely talented Fiona Paxton who had very kindly managed to grab me a much needed glass of champagne (this job does sometimes have its perks). For AW10, Fiona has created a collection entited "Four-Sided Constellation" with some detailed statement necklaces and cuffs with geometric patterning. My favourite was the drape necklace you can see in the top right of the photo below.

Fiona Paxton at London Fashion Week

A new designer that we'll be introducing to the site for autumn is the very lovely Jacey Withers. I've been admiring Jacey's designs from afar for a while now, so I couldn't resist placing an order. I love the new treasure chest locket we'll be stocking - it's a little chest that opens and spills out treasure. There are also some beautifully detailed raccoon pieces too - see the photos below for a sneak preview.

    Jacey Withers

The Jacey Withers raccoon necklace - look at his tail!

My final stop at LFW was Lola Rose. The AW10 collection has a beautiful collection of new stones and some fantastic new styles. I loved their new longer beaded necklaces and have ordered some for autumn - expect long necklaces with simple strands of beads, some faceted heart necklaces in a brand new shape and chunky rings.

    New Lola Rose for Autumn

    Lola Rose Rings Galore

I'd now finished at LFW, but I still had one more appointment at the May Fair Hotel to keep. I was pretty much dead on my feet at this point, having drunk only champagne and water since breakfast (not as glamorous as it sounds when your head is spinning), so it was great to sit down and relax while I ordered some new pieces from two brand new designers Lenora Dame and Kirstin Ash.

Lenora Dame is an American designer who creates jewellery pieces with combinations of old and new materials, wood, glass, textiles, found objects, lucite, paper and twine. Her eclectic creations have been worn by celebrities including Katie Perry and America Ferrera. Here's a little preview of things to come:

    Lenora Dame Alphabet Bracelet

If you love all things birdy then you'll love our second new designer Kirstin Ash. Her jewellery is handmade in Sydney, Australia. Antique finishes, quirky animals and playful silhouettes form her signature style. Each collection has a story of its own but draws from a common inspiration of vintage curios, ordinary and obscure objects, children's books and Paris. Again, here's a little taster:

    Kirstin Ash Hummingbird Pendant

We will keep you updated as to when these two new designers will be arriving, so keep an eye on the blog.

A little exhausted, I headed back to Euston to catch the 7pm train back to Liverpool. The end of a long but exciting day!

  • Key Jewellery - Unlocking a Trend for SS10

Keys are set to be a big trend for spring/summer 2010. The key is said to be a symbol of opening and closing powers and they're seen to represent knowledge, mystery, initiation, and curiosity.

Symbolism aside, keys create timeless jewellery pieces that transcend the seasons. Layer them up for a quirky twist, or wear a singular key pendant for a classic, more refined look.

Some of our designers have taken this 'key' concept and created some beautiful examples of key jewellery. Here are some of our favourites:

    Alex Monroe Key Necklace

Alex Monroe has introduced a key necklace to his collection for spring 2010. This pretty, dainty key has vintage styling and clover and heart detailing. It looks great worn alone, or layered with other necklaces from his Gardener collection.

Tom Binns Alice in Wonderland Key Necklace

This eclectic design from Tom Binns comes from his Alice in Wonderland collection for Disney. A cluster of vintage keys in mixed metals hangs from the iconic Alice in Wonderland keyhole.

    Dogeared Unlocked Peace Key Necklace

Dogeared have also run with the 'key' theme and created a new 'Unlocked' collection for spring 2010. This collection comprises of keys in gold and silver plate on chain or leather. A great collection for layering, as the leather necklaces allow you to adjust the length of your necklaces for a tiered look.

Tom Binns Alice in Wonderland Key Brooch

This keyhole brooch is from Tom Binns' Alice in Wonderland collection for Disney. The Alice in Wonderland Keyhole features once again, and is filled with famous symbols from the Lewis Carroll book. A great piece for lovers of detail and one of our favourites.

  • A Secret Garden of Jewellery

We're pleased to announce the arrival of Alex Monroe's eagerly anticipated 'The Gardener" collection.

The collection is based on Alex's new children's story, The Gardener, which was inspired by his passion for gardening. Alex has long been a keen gardener, and keeps an allotment in Dulwich, to where he retreats with his daughters to potter away, sit and eat strawberries and escape the chaos of everyday life.

    The Gardener by Alex Monroe

The idea for his book came after chatting to friends at Paris Fashion Week, and swapping allotment tips, as you do. The book imagines a solitary, thoughtful little girl who discovers the delights and secrets of city gardening. Ants scurry about their business. Bees buzz and the breeze gently sways the apple branches. But the high garden fences cannot keep tragedy away and she soon discovers a sadness coupled with the new future opening before her.

Alex has created a delightful and surprising collection of jewellery, displayed in it's own secret garden. In a reflection of the dreaminess of the story, ants and bees and dragonflies nestle amongst the plants and flowers. A large, smooth apple locket opens to reveal it own special secret......

All Alex Monroe jewellery is handcrafted in his London studio. You can see our full collection of Alex Monroe Jewellery here.
