  • Video: Creating the Les Nereides AW11 Collection

Here's a video showing how French designers Les N?r?ides created the AW11 'Dans La Foret' (translation: In the Forest) collection. This collection features scenes from our European forests with rabbits, hedgehogs and owls. Les N?r?ides also created a special necklace, inspired by the famous tale by Jean de La Fontaine called 'The Crow and the Fox'.

It's fascinating to see how much work goes into creating each piece:

  • AW11 Jewellery Trend: Tribal

The tribal trend continues into AW11, taking its influence from Aztec, Navajo and Cowboys & Indians. 70's style patterning and aztec beading feature on oversized statement necklaces finished with sweeping fringing and contrasting textures of leathers, metals and fabrics. Hammered metals, matt finished stones and arrowhead motifs are a strong theme. Feast your eyes on our favourite tribal picks from the AW11 collections so far:

  • Guest Post: Sparkle on an Autumn Day

As the days get cooler and the nights draw in (can you feel winter on its way?), you’ll be wanting to get those warm coats out of the cupboard.? The black wool fitted coat is a wardrobe staple ? but is it too dull for Autumn when the world turns gorgeous shades of red and orange?

These flower-shaped brooches by Butler and Wilson at Accessories Online make a really great addition to your coat this season, giving a bit of sparkle to what might otherwise feel like a dull day.

I love this ? it’s chunky, sparkly, and has that dulled gunmetal shine that will reflect whatever colours you are surrounded with.? Just think ? black coat, thick tights, warm boots, maybe even scarf and gloves, and your gorgeous glistening brooch leading the way as you walk around.

    Butler

If grey isn’t your thing there is a fantastic multi-coloured version in autumnal shades, or alternatively a pink crystal or clear crystal version.

Each chunky flower brooch is 4cm across and encrusted with crystals with a crystal centre, with a bar and swivel clasp.? At just ?34.00 they're a very affordable way to spruce up your outerwear this season. About our Guest Blogger :

  • 'Adornithology' by Jacey Withers

The 'Adornithology'? jewellery collection by Jacey Withers that we previewed from London Fashion Week earlier this year is now online. It always seems like ages between us ordering collections at LFW in February and their arrival with us in the Autumn!

    Large Owl Head Necklace, ?299.95

    Large

For Fall 2011, Jacey Withers Jewellery presents ?Adornithology?, an enchanting collection of unique handcrafted pieces heavily inspired by the beautiful white barn owl, one of England’s most captivating birds. Fascinated by this creature, Jacey has created a delightful story surrounding the life of this bird, the mythology and superstition surrounding it as well as its wildlife companions, some even being its prey.

    Owl Earrings, ?112.95

    Owl

Within the collection of earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets we discover adorable, inquisitive mice climbing on rings, necklaces and bracelets. Striking owls sit on chains showing the amazing pattern of their wings. These Jacey has cleverly captured with the use of black gold and yellow gold on silver. The soft dreamy hues of feathers are represented by a cunning use of specially sourced rare semi-precious stones including, frost white druzzi crystal, cream facetted jasper, beige hematoid and black lineated tourmaline.

    Mouse on Corn Bracelet, ?139.95

    Mouse

Ornate owl faces have been sculpted coming out of gold discs with ruby red drops that swing on silver and gold chains necklaces. Owl feathers have been considered lucky charms in various different cultures with the bird itself representing the messenger. This triggered Jacey to design the stylised owl feather showpiece bracelet and necklace, two must be seen pieces that complete another successful collection of magical talisman.

  • Dogeared Jewels & Gifts AW11 Season Preview

As part of its year-long 20th birthday celebration, Dogeared presents their autumn/winter 2011 line with new fashion collections.

Flea and antique markets in Italy - the arts and crafts of Bhutan - vintage stores in New York City - and the Farmers Markets, beaches, and landscapes of Southern California ? all inspired the original jewellery created for Dogeared’s new limited edition collection. The colours and textures of nature, the techniques and materials of artisans around the world, and the importance of adornment in all cultures inspired the creative vision behind this collection.

Founder and designer Marcia Maizel-Clarke returned from a recent trip to Florence, Italy with gorgeous, gilded, embossed, and painted antique trays she found at a flea market. The colours, textures, and designs of these trays led to collecting richly coloured gems that were available only in very limited quantities. These, in turn, became the new Limited Edition Jewels Collection. Large gems, including Carnelian, Labradorite, Grey Onyx, and Cape Amethyst, and small gems and gold-dipped beads are wrapped and hang on long leather ties. Each is handmade to order by Dogeared designers and is one-of-a-kind. Very limited quantities of each style are available this season only.

A new Karma Sign necklace features the word ?Karma? in custom-designed lettering cut through a sterling silver or gold-dipped rectangular plaque. The Karma circle, the simple and powerful word Karma, and the concept that, ?what goes around, comes around,? continue to inspire beautiful jewellery new designs.

  • Alex Monroe's New Chrysanthemum Collection

Chrysanthemum is the sumptuously glamorous new collection from Alex Monroe.

Crafting beautiful Chrysanthemum flowers with all of his trademark delicacy and detail, British designer Alex has created a sophisticated collection reminiscent of a bygone era. It's a nostalgic nod back to the 1950’s when women craved glamour and style after the austerity of the Second World War. Alex wanted to inject a little bit of this sentiment into current times!

With Grace Kelly as a source of inspiration, the collection is very lady-like, with a focus on detailed and delicate necklaces, pearl centered stud earrings and elegant bracelets. Shimmering pearls and glittering white topaz form details and centre pieces, nestling in amongst the pompom-like flowers.

Although not a native flower, the Chrysanthemum is a true British classic ? found in almost every bouquet across the land, and here transformed into chic pieces of Alex Monroe jewellery.

The collection arrives shortly, keep checking our Facebook and Twitter feeds for updates.
