Christmas 2010

  • Merry Christmas!

    Merry Christmas

I'm writing this minutes before we close for Christmas!

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everybody who has shopped with us, tweeted with us, or joined us on Facebook over the last year. 2010 has been a great year, and our busiest since we started in 2004. So thanks to everybody for your wonderful support, kind comments and much appreciated custom. It's our customers that are the lifeblood of our business and we appreciate each and every one of you.

2011 will be an exciting year for us. We have more talented jewellery designers coming on board and a big website revamp scheduled for the start of the year. We'll be getting a total facelift and working hard to make our website even easier for our customers to use. Exciting times indeed.

So before I sign off for Christmas, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year.

    Speak to you in 2011,

    Vicky xxx

  • Christmas Delivery? There's Still a Chance!

It's cold and frosty outside, but here at we're still working hard to despatch orders for UK Christmas delivery. We can't guarantee your order will arrive in time, but selecting one of our 'next day delivery' methods will give it a better chance of reaching you. We've noticed that orders sent via our UPS courier delivery method are arriving the next day in the majority of cases. This option costs just ?6.95 per order. It's worth a try if you've left it late!

We are constantly checking the Royal Mail service updates page and they are still sticking to the last posting date of the 23rd December for Special Delivery items.

Keep an eye on our Christmas delivery updates page for more information.

  • Christmas Delivery Update

The weather conditions and large volumes of seasonal mail have resulted in a delay in the delivery of goods. ?These factors are out of our control. However, we’d like to apologise for any inconvenience it may cause. We are still endeavouring to dispatch 99% of orders on the same day. You can check our Christmas delivery page for updates.

Whilst the Royal Mail are keeping their recommended posting dates as detailed on our Christmas delivery page, we’d advise our customers to upgrade to Next Day Delivery (Royal Mail Special Delivery or UPS Courier delivery) just to be sure that your order arrives in time. We can no longer guarantee that your order will arrive in time for Christmas, but the next day delivery method will give it a better chance of reaching you.

Royal Mail have temporarily withdrawn their delivery guarantee for Special Delivery items as they cannot guarantee next day delivery of all items in all parts of the UK. Therefore we have also had to do the same.? However, most items are still arriving quickly ? usually the next day in the majority of cases.

You can see full updates on the Royal Mail’s website.

  • Statement Necklaces for the Festive Season

Now that the Christmas shopping is nearly finished, our thoughts turn to what we will be wearing at this year's Christmas party.

The perfect accessory to give you little black dress the essential dose of festive glamour and sophistication is the statement necklace. Here are some of our top picks from our collection.

Butler and Wilson create the creme de la creme of statement necklaces, and this mirrored treasure does not disappoint. No other accessories required with this one, the necklace does all the work.

This bib style statement necklace by New York designer David Aubrey has dark teardrops of rainbow obsidian. Gold filigree edging gives sophisticated detail:

Fiona Paxton's coveted Trent necklace is my personal favourite. Draping strands of two tone chain form this on-trend piece:

This twisted charm necklace by designer Tom Binns comes from his Alice in Wonderland themed collection for Disney Couture. Crammed with Alice themed charms and characteristic of Binns' unimitable jewellery style, the necklace makes a detailed statement:

Last but not least, this necklace from Les Nereides' Au Clair de la Lune collection makes a more feminine statement with delicately hand enamelled flowers and entwined branches:

  • Oh the Weather Outside is Frightful...

Jam packed high streets, crowded shops, freezing weather. All the reasons why I like to get my Christmas shopping done by the end of November. Plus, running an online jewellery company keeps me kind of busy in December. Online shopping is definitely the way to go - I've done the majority of my shopping this way for a number of years.? What can beat shopping from the comfort and warmth of your own home, armed with a glass of mulled wine and a plate full of mince pies? Not much, especially in this kind of weather.

    Christmas Shopping Online

I believe that Christmas shopping should be enjoyable. This is where buying online has the advantage. I find it really hard to maintain that 'festive spirit' when you're carrying heavy bags and battling through hoards of shoppers. Am I alone in this? Probably not.

If you're shopping online then I think it's really important that delivery is free and fast. I placed an order with a well known online retailer last week and paid ?5.95 for 'standard' delivery to the UK. Six days later and it still hasn't been despatched. I'm pleased to say you'll find none of that here.? This week has been our busiest to date since we started trading back in 2004. but we're still managing to despatch 99.9% of all orders on the same day. It's our aim to maintain this level of service through the busy Christmas period. We've built up a good reputation for our speed of delivery and we won't be letting it slip. This year we introduced free UK delivery which has been really popular with our customers - after all, it was our customers who asked for it. We now have a free returns service too, so our UK customers don't have to pay a penny to send things back to us.

To make things a bit easier we've also set up a? Christmas gift guide. The guide has been broken down into categories, with each category containing some of our best selling and most gifted items.? You can also use the little widgety thing on the left of the page to sort by price and designer if you'd like to. Another thing we've done to try and keep things easy and enjoyable for you.

So stay inside, stay warm and shop online!

If you're a fan of ours on Facebook then you'll know all about our new season of Butler & Wilson jewellery that's just arrived. This collection is even more exciting because several of the pieces are hot from the X Factor (blog post to follow)!

As it's getting nearer to Christmas, we've got some fab new party pieces including oversized statement necklaces and shoulder sweeping chandelier earrings. The collection is infused with the characteristic Butler and Wilson colour, sparkle and quirkiness that we all love. You can see the full collection here, but in the meantime, here are some of our top picks:

Butler & Wilson Purple Crystal Statement Necklace, ?194

Blingadingaling! This is a showstopper of a necklace. It has oversized purple crystals framed with brilliant cut crystals in complementary colours. Love, want, NEED.

Butler & Wilson Multicoloured Crystal Peacock Earrings, ?38

What dangling drops of loveliness! These oversized peacock feather earrings are set with multi coloured crystals for optimum sparkle. We love the slight curve to the feathers which gives them an elegant look. And we just love anything with a peacock theme, so they're right at the top of our Christmas list.

Butler and Wilson Crystal Lizard Brooch, ?48

Look at this little cutie! Animal jewellery never goes out of fashion. Butler & Wilson is famous for its lizard and spider brooches which have become very collectable over the years. This sparkly brooch is all you need to brighten up a dark winter coat or add some interest to your favourite chunky knit. We're loving the dark gunmetal colour and those emerald green eyes.
